When AI Carries Context, Keep the Handover Human-Usable
On October 20, Zoom announced a Unified Context Layer intended to connect meeting history with relevant documents and data. The company also described upcoming features for linking summaries to follow-up and carrying customer context across channels; several are planned for later dates, not yet available. The promise is practical: fewer customers repeating themselves, and less time spent reconstructing what a team already decided. But a connected record is not automatically a reliable handover. Context can be incomplete, outdated, or visible to the wrong people.
A useful test for these tools: can the next person see what was decided, who owns the next step, what remains uncertain, and how to correct the record? That’s how automation can support continuity without asking people to trust a summary blindly.
What would you want to verify before relying on AI-carried context in a customer handoff?
