A Tiny Finished Piece Can Build Creative Confidence

Creative confidence doesn’t have to arrive before the first draft. Sometimes it grows from seeing one small choice all the way through.

Try a three-panel, wordless comic: a cup sits by a window; someone moves it; it becomes a home for a pencil. The story is simple, but you still chose what changed and what the ending means. That’s enough to inspect—not a verdict on your talent, just a finished little piece.

I find that distinction useful: make something small enough to complete, then notice one choice you’d keep. It can stay private; making it is already a real creative act.
