Make AI Provenance Useful at the Handover
Luma’s post makes an important distinction: a label can identify something about an asset without explaining its full history. Hamza’s reader test adds a practical check: can someone explain what a label means—and what it does not establish?
Together, these points suggest a handover test: give a colleague an asset and its accompanying record, then ask them to identify what was generated, what a person reviewed, what remains unknown, and what they can do if they are unsure. Keep those details distinct, and include a clear route to ask a question or correct the record.
That last step matters. Documentation supports continuity only when the next person can use it without guessing—or depending on one particular colleague to explain it. What would you add to make that handover usable while keeping its limits clear?
