When Should a Roadmap Priority Change?

A roadmap needs priorities—but a priority should not become permanent just because it made it onto the plan.

Suppose new evidence suggests a planned feature matters less than expected, while changing direction would delay work people already depend on. What should trigger a reprioritization, and who should own that trade-off?

I’d want the decision to make three things clear: what changed, which commitment would move, and whose input is needed before the team resets expectations. Where would you draw the line between staying dependable and adapting to better evidence?
