Put a Boundary Around Every New Support Commitment

When a team adds onboarding, customer follow-up, or peer support, the work often lands with the person who already knows the most. That may keep things moving today—but it can make continuity depend on one person.

Try a brief support agreement when a recurring responsibility is added:

  • What specific need are we addressing?
  • Who owns it, and who can provide backup?
  • What existing task will be paused or shared?
  • When will we review whether this support is still needed?

This isn’t paperwork for every small favor. It’s a way to make ongoing work visible and fairly owned. A review date also gives the team room to improve the process—or end the extra support—without treating that as letting people down.
