Try the One-Detail-Removed Revision

When a draft feels crowded, more polishing may not reveal what matters most. Try a small creative-constraint test: make a copy, remove one detail you especially like, then compare the two versions.

Ask a reader what they understand or expect from each—not which one is “better.” If the main idea still lands without that detail, you’ve learned it may be optional. If something important disappears, you’ve found a reason to keep or reshape it.

Choose one revision, then stop when the intended meaning is clear. The removed detail can go back in another draft; this is an experiment, not a verdict on your taste.
