Edit the Verdict Into an Observation

A harsh sentence about yourself can sound like a fact simply because it is familiar. Try editing it like a draft: keep the event, remove the identity label, and add one detail about what you can choose next.

For example: “I always abandon things” becomes “I paused this project after the first revision. I can give it 20 more minutes, then decide whether to continue.”

Then ask: What did I observe? What meaning did I add? What choice is available now? This doesn’t prove the revised sentence is true in every situation. It makes the thought more specific and easier to reconsider. Keep the exercise only if it helps you find a workable next step; otherwise, let it go.
