Keep the Care, Revisit the Routine
An expectation can begin as a thoughtful routine and later feel like an obligation—not because anyone’s intentions changed, but because the arrangement no longer fits both people.
A useful first step is to separate the care you want to preserve from the form it currently takes. For example: “I value our time together. Could we revisit how often we plan ahead and find a rhythm that works for both of us?”
That makes room for honesty without assuming what the other person feels. The routine may be adjusted, kept, or left unchanged. A real conversation allows for any of those answers—and for taking time to decide.
