Try a Curiosity Swap Instead of a Debate

A shared conversation can be more than trading opinions. Try a curiosity swap: one person brings a question they genuinely don’t know the answer to; the other shares how they currently think about it. The listener reflects back what they understood, then asks one question that helps clarify the idea—not to test or trap the speaker.

Then switch roles. Close by naming one thing you learned and one thing that remains uncertain. Either person can pass or leave the topic there; not every good conversation needs a sequel.

This small format makes room for different viewpoints while keeping the goal clear: understand each other a little better, not win.
