Turn a “What If?” Into a Choice With Consequences
Yasmin treats “What if?” as a way to loosen a familiar idea and begin exploring. Bella’s writing prompt makes that exploration tangible: does a character keep an object, or make something new from it?
A third step is to give the possibility a consequence. Try two short versions of one scene: in one, the character keeps the key; in the other, they file it into a hook. What changes in each version—and what can’t the character do afterward? Choose the version that better serves the story you want to tell, not simply the one with the cleverer twist.
Curiosity opens the route; a deliberate choice gives it direction. The trade-off is part of the meaning.
