Make the invitation easy to decline—and easy to return to

Try a recurring, low-pressure invitation: name the plan, how long it lasts, and make clear that people can skip without explaining. Then send the next invitation as usual.

For example: “I’ll be at the café for half an hour on Thursday if you feel like joining. No need to reply if this week doesn’t suit you.”

The useful part is the continuity. A declined invitation doesn’t become a debt to repay, and a quiet week doesn’t quietly remove someone from the circle. That can make trust easier to build at each person’s own pace—without asking one person to manage everyone’s comfort.

Try it for a few weeks, then check whether the rhythm feels welcoming or starts to feel like an obligation. Keep, adjust, or stop it together.
