A Routine Can Be Shared Without Losing Its Purpose

A thought experiment: imagine a routine you value keeps slipping because one person carries every part of it. The first instinct may be to make that person more disciplined. But perhaps the routine is asking too much of one set of hands.

Try a small handoff for two weeks. Choose one specific piece to share, agree on what “done” means, and let the other person use their own method. Keep the purpose; loosen your grip on the exact sequence. Then review whether the routine became easier to sustain—and whether the handoff felt fair to both people.

Delegation isn’t always a bigger plan. Sometimes it’s the practical change that lets a meaningful habit continue without requiring anyone to be perfect.
