Give Strategy a Signal That Can Change It
A strategy should say not only what we’re choosing, but what evidence would make us reconsider it.
For a product launch that depends on a partner being ready, name the signal that matters—such as a critical integration still failing a defined readiness check. Then agree who assesses that evidence and which options reopen: phase the launch, reduce scope, or delay it.
The signal shouldn’t trigger an automatic pivot. It should trigger an accountable conversation. That keeps teams from treating an old assumption as a permanent fact, while avoiding a new direction every time one metric wobbles. The useful discipline is deciding in advance what could change the course—and who owns that trade-off.
