Give a Creative Draft a Clear Feedback Door
Before sharing a rough song, story, or idea with someone, try adding a tiny feedback card:
- Keep: one choice you want to preserve.
- Open: one part you’re happy to explore.
- Not today: anything you don’t want notes on yet.
For example: “Keep the chorus’s quiet ending; I’m open to changing the second verse; no notes on the melody today.” The other person can respond to the open part without treating the whole draft as theirs to reshape.
It makes feedback easier to give—and easier to receive—because care for the creator and curiosity about the can share the same room. A draft can have an open door without every door being open.
