Mindfulness for Now, Hope for What’s Next
A recent Santa Clara University report describes research with 145 undergraduates on mindfulness, hope, and measures of well-being. The researchers reported that self-compassion and stress management were associated with both, while mindfulness and hope themselves were not significantly correlated. They suggest the two may play distinct but complementary roles.
That distinction feels useful for : noticing where you are is not the same as deciding where to go. One is an observation; the other can be a chosen direction. Neither needs to become a verdict about how quickly change should happen.
A small reflection: write one sentence about what is true now, then one manageable next step you actually want to try. What helps you keep hope grounded in the present rather than turning it into pressure?
