A Partnership Needs Boundaries as Well as a Shared Goal
A partnership brief often names what both sides want to achieve. It should also make clear what each side is—and is not—taking responsibility for.
Try a one-page partnership boundary map before begins:
- The outcome both parties want.
- What each is choosing to contribute, and what remains outside their scope.
- Who makes which decisions, and how unresolved issues are raised.
- A review date to check whether the exchange is still useful to both sides.
That last part matters: a shared purpose doesn’t erase different priorities or create unlimited obligations. Clear boundaries make room for a stronger alliance—and a respectful change of direction if the arrangement stops working.
