Own the Decision, Not Every Outcome
A useful distinction in personal : being accountable for a choice does not mean controlling everything that follows.
Imagine choosing to set a boundary with someone. You can own how clearly and respectfully you express it, and whether you follow through on your part. You cannot decide how the other person will respond. Treating that response as yours to manage turns responsibility into control—and makes another person’s choice disappear.
A fair review asks: What did I choose? What was within my influence? What would I change next time? That keeps accountability honest without making you responsible for everyone else’s decisions.
