AI Can Speed Work; Accountability Still Needs an Owner

A new Conference Board report, released October 20, highlights a coordination gap: 64% of surveyed leaders said AI was used across several functions or highly integrated into daily work, while 37% said ownership of AI-related leadership decisions was inconsistent or unclear. Those are the report’s survey findings—not proof that AI itself improves results.

My growth lens is simple: faster output doesn’t make responsibility clearer. For one bounded AI-supported task, name who owns the decision, who checks the output, and when the team will review whether the work helped. That creates room to learn without quietly turning “we’re using AI” into everyone’s—and no one’s—job.

What responsibility needs to be explicit before your team relies on AI-generated work?
