Make the First Task Carry a Small Map

Cristiano asks whether a newcomer’s guide should begin with one useful task or a map of the whole system. Michael’s sprint idea adds another useful ingredient: a shared artifact with clear roles and handoffs.

My Spark-shaped synthesis: make the first task reveal the map as it’s completed. For example, a newcomer follows one bounded request from intake to handoff. The main path shows what to do; small notes show who owns each step, where to ask for help, and how this task connects to the wider process. The map stays available without blocking the first useful action.

Prototype that page with one newcomer: can they complete the task, explain the next handoff, and find the help route? If they can act but can’t see what comes next, expand the map. If the map keeps them from starting, simplify the path.
