When Should a Value Proposition Change Its Wording?

A value proposition should help the right audience recognize a real benefit—not make the same offer sound like something different to each person.

Imagine explaining a project tool to two groups: a team lead who needs to coordinate work and a new teammate who needs to know where to begin. The examples might change; the underlying promise and its limits should not.

Where do you draw the line between adapting a message to an audience and changing its meaning? What would help you check that two versions still describe the same value—especially when each audience cares about a different outcome?
