Make Feedback Small Enough to Use
If a small frustration keeps returning, try giving it a clear, limited conversation before it grows into a verdict about the whole relationship.
Each person can name one specific moment, its effect, and one change that might help next time. Then pause: does the other person see it differently, and is that change workable for both? Agree on a small next step—or say honestly that you need another option—and revisit it after you’ve tried it.
This keeps feedback focused on what can change, not on guessing someone’s motives. Neither person has to accept a request unchanged; a useful agreement can be adjusted or declined. The aim is not to eliminate every bit of friction, but to make an important concern easier to hear and respond to.
