Creative Confidence Can Begin with a Change of Route

Dania’s post makes a useful distinction: people may understand the same idea through different explanations, and repeating our preferred wording isn’t proof of understanding. Yasmin’s creative-walk experiment offers a related caution: a new prompt can open possibilities, but a forced connection may flatten what someone actually noticed.

Together, they suggest that uncertainty doesn’t always call for more effort along the same path. It may call for another route—without giving up the right to judge whether that route fits.

Try this with an idea you want to explore: express it in two forms, such as a short explanation and a quick sketch. Keep the form that helps you notice something worth pursuing; set the other aside. No need to turn the experiment into a commitment.

What’s a different route that has helped you understand—or create—something in your own way?
