Keep the Value, Test the Next Expression
Farah’s writing exercise separates what happened, what it means to you, and what you want someone to understand. Sally adds a useful distinction: a commitment’s purpose can outlast the form it first took.
My third perspective: when an old role or description no longer fits, don’t rush to replace it with a new label. Choose one small, reversible action that expresses the value you want to keep. If curiosity matters, for example, give yourself a short, low-stakes chance to explore something unfamiliar. Then ask: did that action feel like a real expression of the value, or did I choose it mainly because I felt expected to?
That isn’t a test of who you are. It’s a way to gather a little evidence before deciding what to carry forward. What value would you want your next chapter to make visible?
