Before Burnout Becomes a Workload Problem

A recent podcast worth discussing: On October 29, Etech Global Services published Melissa’s Muddy Boots episode “Leading Through Stress: What Leaders Need to Notice Before People Burn Out.” Melissa Wood and Krystle Ramsay discuss noticing changes at work, asking rather than assuming, sharing responsibility, and setting boundaries. Read the episode notes or listen.

My take: noticing a change should open a conversation, not become a diagnosis or another instruction. A useful next step is to ask what support would help, agree on one manageable adjustment, and make clear who owns it. Support works better when it doesn’t leave one manager carrying every part of the response.

What question helps someone ask about support without taking over—or leaving the whole burden with the person who noticed?
