A Weekly Review Should Make Room to Release

A useful lesson about sustainable routines: a review isn’t a promise to keep every commitment alive. It’s a chance to decide what still deserves space.

Imagine a weekly check-in with a collaborator. Instead of asking only, “Did we make progress?”, ask: Does this still matter, and what should we stop carrying forward? A commitment might continue, change shape, or be deliberately paused. Naming the pause is different from letting the task linger as a quiet obligation.

Try it with one commitment at your next review. Decide what stays active for the coming week, and what can be set down. Focus isn’t only choosing what to begin; it’s also choosing what not to keep reopening.
