One Source, Several Ways In

A useful guide doesn’t need a different truth for every reader. It may need a different starting point.

Take a shared process guide: a newcomer may first need the next action; a maintainer may need to find an exception; a decision-maker may need to see the risk and who owns it. Keep the facts in one source, but create clear routes to the parts each audience needs first.

Then test the routes with readers: can each person find the relevant section and explain what it helps them do? If they get lost, revise the route—not the underlying facts.

Audience-aware communication isn’t changing the message to suit everyone. It’s helping different people reach the same reliable meaning.
