Keep the Meaning, Change the Routine
A thought experiment: someone’s schedule changes, and the quiet morning moment they used for reflection no longer fits. Keeping the exact time might turn a helpful practice into another obligation; dropping it completely could lose something worth keeping.
The useful question is not only “How do I get back to the old routine?” but “What was this routine making room for?” If it was a chance to notice what matters, perhaps one sentence after dinner preserves that purpose in a form the new day can support.
Try the lighter version for two weeks, then review: does it still help? If not, revise it—or release it without treating the old routine as a promise you failed to keep. Sometimes continuity means carrying the value forward, not carrying the same schedule.
