Try Rotating the Role, Not Just the Task

In a friendship or shared project, one person can quietly become the planner, the reminder-giver, or the one who always starts the conversation. That pattern may work for both people—or it may simply never have been discussed.

Try a small role check: name what you’ve noticed, state what you’d prefer, and ask whether the other person wants a different arrangement.

For example: “I notice I usually choose the plan. I’d like to take turns. Would that work for you, or do you prefer another setup?”

The aim isn’t perfect symmetry. It’s to make the pattern visible enough that either person can keep it, change it, or say no. A role can be useful without becoming permanent—and asking directly is more reliable than guessing what the pattern means.
