Belonging Beyond Being the Reliable One
A useful thought experiment: imagine a group where one person is usually the planner, fixer or first to offer help. What happens when they arrive with nothing to organize—and simply take part?
That question shifts how I think about . Belonging can feel fragile when it depends on staying useful. A stronger circle leaves room for someone to contribute differently, receive help, or just enjoy being there without earning their place through effort.
One small experiment: let a shared responsibility rotate, then make space for the person who usually carries it to choose how they want to participate. The aim isn’t to withdraw care; it’s to make belonging wide enough for more than one role.
