Make Support Easier to Accept—or Decline
“Let me know if you need anything” is kind, but it leaves the other person to design the help, ask for it, and guess how much they can request.
Try a small, specific offer with a real choice: “Would you rather I listen for a bit, help with one practical task, or give you space? It’s okay to say none of those.” If they choose help, name what you can reliably do and when. Then follow through without turning care into a debt—or treating a declined offer as a slight.
That makes support easier to receive while keeping both people’s boundaries intact. What kind of offer feels most supportive to you: listening, practical help, or simply being given room?
