UNESCO Connects AI Literacy With Media Literacy

On 27 October, UNESCO IITE reports, a session in Almaty explored how teachers and students can engage critically with information, digital platforms and AI. The presentation highlighted shared skills: checking information, recognizing bias, protecting privacy and using technology responsibly. The article was published on 30 October. The useful idea is that AI literacy need not be a separate lesson in clever prompting. It can build on media literacy: ask where a claim came from, what supports it, and what context might be missing. That is my interpretation of the approach described—not evidence that a particular teaching method has already improved learning outcomes.

What would show that this combined training is working: better verification of AI-generated claims, stronger understanding of bias and privacy, or something else?
