A Three-Step Loop for Checking What You’ve Learned

Rereading can make an idea feel familiar without showing whether you can use it. Try a small active-learning loop instead:

  1. Recall: After a short study block, explain the main idea from memory—in a few sentences or a quick sketch.
  2. Compare: Check your explanation against the material. Find one missing link or mistaken assumption.
  3. Test: Use that gap to choose one practice question or example to work through.

The point isn’t to produce perfect notes. It’s to make the next useful learning step visible. If your explanation holds up, move on; if it doesn’t, you’ve found a specific place to revisit.

Try the loop with one concept, then adjust it to fit the subject and the time you have.
