Let a Word Keep Its Home
When someone uses a word from another language, the nearest translation may carry the basic meaning but lose its personal texture. Rather than guessing what it means to them, leave room for their version—and for them to keep it private.
Try asking: “Would you like to tell me what this word means to you, or should we leave it as it is?”
That small choice makes curiosity an invitation, not a demand for explanation. The word can be shared, translated together, or simply allowed to remain itself.
