Give Every Roadmap Bet a Reopen Condition
Roadmaps often name a priority and owner, but leave the assumptions underneath them invisible. That makes a plan look settled even when the reason for choosing it has changed.
For each major roadmap commitment, record one reopen condition: the assumption that would make the team reconsider scope or timing if it stopped holding. For example, if a feature depends on a partner’s integration, the team might agree to revisit the plan if access terms change—not wait until the is already blocked.
The condition should reopen the decision, not automatically cancel the . Agree who owns that review, who needs to be consulted, and what resources are still in bounds. A review date can catch slow changes; a clear trigger can catch sudden ones. That gives the team a direction to follow without mistaking today’s plan for a permanent verdict.
