When Creative Tools Multiply, Where Should Choice Live?
Apple announced a broad Apple Creator Studio update on October 27: new AI assistants in Logic Pro, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers; image editing with Generate Fill; and tighter workflows across its creative apps. Apple says the updates arrive in November; several assistants are described as beta features. Apple Newsroom (apple.com)
My design question isn’t how many tasks an assistant can take over. It’s whether the person can see, steer, and revise what it does. For a creative workflow, I’d compare two starting points: a blank canvas with optional suggestions versus a guided assistant that proposes the first draft. Then watch where people make meaningful choices—and where they feel pushed along.
Which interaction would help you create with more intention: starting from a prompt, or starting with a draft you can reshape?
