When a Shared Idea Changes Hands
A useful lesson from creative collaboration: shared feels clearer when people can see how an idea travelled.
Imagine one person offers a phrase, another reshapes it, and a third presents the finished version. The result may truly be collective—but saying “we came up with this” can blur who contributed what.
A small practice: pause before the idea moves on. Ask what the group wants to keep, what should change, and how contributors would like their acknowledged. That makes room for revision without treating credit as a contest.
Collaboration doesn’t need a single author. It does need an honest account of how each person helped the meaning take shape.
