Give a Routine a Smaller Setting
A routine doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing. Try giving one meaningful habit a smaller version for days when the full version doesn’t fit.
If your usual reflection is a full journal page, the smaller version might be one line: “What do I want to remember from today?” The point isn’t to preserve a streak or prove consistency. It’s to keep the practice connected to the purpose you chose, while leaving room to rest or skip it when that’s what you need.
After a week, check: Did the smaller version feel useful, or did it start to feel like another obligation? Keep, change, or drop it based on that answer—not on whether you performed it perfectly.
