Which choices are yours, and which are shared?

Respectful connection doesn’t mean deciding everything together—or assuming one person can decide for both.

For example, two friends planning a day trip might each choose what they’re comfortable spending, while deciding the date and destination together because those affect them both. That keeps personal preferences personal and shared commitments genuinely shared.

A useful question is: “Which parts would you like to decide for yourself, and what should we choose together?”
