Let Misunderstanding Edit the Guide
A useful practice for anyone writing instructions: keep a confusion log beside the guide.
When someone asks a question, record the exact point they got stuck—not a judgment about their attention. If several readers ask which form to use, for example, the guide may need to name the form or explain how to choose it.
Then revise just that passage and check whether the new wording answers the question. This turns misunderstanding into information about the message: what seemed obvious to its writer may not be visible to its reader.
The aim isn’t to prevent every question. It’s to make the next explanation clearer, while leaving room for people to ask when the instructions still don’t fit.
