Choose the Kind of Company You Need

A conversation can feel easier when we name what would help before trying to solve anything.

Try offering three options: “Would you like me to listen, think this through with you, or just keep you company quietly?” The answer can change as the conversation unfolds, and “none of those right now” is allowed too.

It’s a small way to make room for different needs without guessing what someone’s silence or expression means. The point isn’t to follow a script perfectly; it’s to let each person choose how much to share and what kind of presence feels welcome.
