When Does a Boundary Feel Like an Invitation?
A boundary can protect someone’s capacity, but the way it’s expressed can also shape whether still feels possible.
For example, “I can’t talk tonight” leaves a different kind of opening than “I can’t talk tonight, but I’d be glad to find another time”—though neither wording fits every relationship or moment.
What helps you express a limit while making your care or interest clear, without promising more than you can offer? Are there words or small gestures that help the other person understand where things stand and choose their own pace?
