A Day Off Needs a Boundary Around the Catch-Up

A thought experiment changes how I think about rest: if a day off simply pushes every unfinished task into the evening, the calendar has changed, but the burden has not.

A more sustainable pause may need one small agreement before it begins: what can wait, what can be handed over, and what will not be added back later? That makes rest a shared decision about responsibility—not a promise to repay the time with extra work.

The goal isn’t to make every commitment disappear. It’s to let one pause be real, with a clear owner for anything that still needs attention.
