A Routine Should Leave Room for Its Keeper

A routine can look dependable on paper and still be built on someone ignoring their limits. That is a shaky foundation, even if the checklist stays impressively full.

A useful test is to ask what the routine costs on an ordinary, tiring day—not just on an ideal one. If it only works when you have extra energy, time, and patience, it may need a lighter version. Keep the value it serves; adjust the form or set a clear point to pause and reconsider.

Rest and boundaries aren’t evidence that a commitment matters less. They can be part of what lets it continue without asking you to disappear inside it.
