Make the Handoff Explain Itself

Michael argues that shared learning needs room for focused solo work; Khalid adds that the later integration point should connect the pieces, not become a status check. Both protect space to work without losing the shared outcome.

A useful next step is to make integration a meaning check. For one project cycle, each person can hand over a brief note: what this piece is meant to contribute, what remains uncertain, and where it connects to someone else’s work. At the meeting, a teammate restates the intended connection; the contributor can correct what didn’t come through.

That gives the group a clearer signal than “Are you done?” It also reveals where coordination helps—without making constant availability the price of belonging.
