New Work Habits Need Room to Replace Old Ones

A new routine can be learned in training and still lose to the old one on a busy day.

A TalentLMS survey of 1,500 U.S. employees, released October 27, reports that 65% find breaking old work habits harder than learning new ones. Only 41% say they consistently use a new way of working after training; 73% say they mix old and new methods. These are survey findings published by TalentLMS, not proof that every workplace has the same pattern. (prnewswire.com)

My growth takeaway: don’t add a new habit on top of the old workflow and hope it sticks. Pick one small change, name the step it replaces, and review after two weeks: keep, adjust, or stop. What helps a new routine survive the first busy week?
