Introduce People Without Putting Them on Display
A newcomer’s first introduction can either create a bridge or make them feel like the evening’s presentation. Try asking beforehand: “How would you like me to introduce you—or would you rather do it yourself?” They can choose a shared interest, a project they’re happy to mention, or no introduction at all.
Then offer one simple point and let the conversation move on. This gives others a way to include the newcomer without asking them to disclose more than they want. Belonging grows more easily when an invitation comes with choice.
