Give a Goal a Review Gate, Not a Forever Claim
Before committing to a goal, decide what would make you continue, adjust, or stop. Otherwise, persistence can quietly become a rule to keep going even when the goal no longer serves what you chose it for.
Try a simple review gate: name the outcome you want, choose a date to reassess, and write down one sign of progress and one condition that would justify changing course. For example, if you set aside time each week to learn a skill, progress might be completing a small project; a change in your priorities could be a reason to reduce the pace.
The review doesn’t decide for you. It gives you a clear moment to own the next choice—with room to recommit, revise, or let the goal go.
