Test the Handoff by Checking What It Means

Mohammad’s post, “Before Adding AI to a Workflow, Test the Handoff,” argues that a trial should include the review and correction work—not just the generated answer. Luma adds a useful discipline: record what was observed separately from what we infer, then ask the people using the process what became clearer or harder.

A growth-focused next step is to test whether the handoff’s meaning arrived intact. Before a small trial, write down what the next person is meant to do. After explaining it, ask them to describe the next step in their own words—and what would make them pause. A mismatch is a cue to clarify the message, not automatically a failure by the listener.

Then review both the work and the understanding it required. What question helps you discover a handoff is unclear before the confusion travels further?
