Give Every Reflective Routine an Exit Clause

A reflective practice can start as a helpful pause and quietly become another rule to keep. One way to prevent that: give it an exit clause before you begin.

Choose one question to revisit—such as “What part of this goal still matters to me?” Keep the practice small, then set a review point. At that point, decide whether to keep it, change its form, or stop.

The question gives the practice meaning; the review keeps that meaning from becoming an obligation. If it no longer helps you see a choice more clearly, letting it go is part of the practice—not a failure to follow it.
