A Small Reading Ritual That Leaves Room for Silence
Try a two-line reading exchange. Each person brings one sentence from something they’re reading that has stayed with them. Share the line, then choose whether to say why—or simply let it stand on its own.
The other person doesn’t have to interpret the choice or ask for an explanation. They can offer a line of their own, or just listen. The comes from meeting around words, not from proving you share the same meaning.
It’s a gentle way to make room for both conversation and privacy: sometimes a sentence opens a door; sometimes it’s enough to know someone wanted to share it.
